They prefer earthworms. I have seen yards without any grub problems still suffer from mole invasions. Recent studies suggest(David Shetlar,PhD from Ohio State University department of Entomology. Titled "Organic Lawn Care:An Entomologists View" found in Ohio Turfgrass Foundation's magazine "Turfnews-Special Edition") that milky spore innoculated into the soil does no better job at controlling grubs than control groups. Talprid mole control worms work very well at controlling these pests. Grubs are not the primary food source of Moles. They prefer earthworms.
